The Press

The Press

FOUNDED in 2013 by Joshua Allen Mercier, The Bearded Scribe Press hopes to become the go-to site for up-and-coming authors under the massive Speculative Fiction umbrella. Whether discovered through editing requests, review requests, regular submission for publications, or through answers to submission calls for its planned anthologies, we plan to stick by our mission to find tomorrow’s top speculative fiction authors today.

The submission call—and what launched the publishing company—for our first anthology, Twice Upon A Time, returned over 120 submissions. The caliber of stories that answered that first submission call made cutting it down to the 44 stories that went into the final result extremely difficult. It made Joshua extremely grateful to Rachel for the suggestion to publish an anthology, answering a call of his own to help other authors create spectacular speculative fiction and to finally have a place to showcase it.

ABOUT

LITERATURE & LATTE, the creators of Scrivener, is a software company founded by writers for writers. Everything they do is born of a passion for bringing together processes familiar to writers in new and exciting ways. What if moving index cards on a corkboard changed the structure of your manuscript? What if you could move notes around on an infinite sheet of paper?

Literature & Latte was founded in 2006 to answer such questions, and their award-winning software is now used by thousands of writers the world over. It’s helped turn napkins into novels, thoughts into theses, and scribbles into screenplays.

While their headquarters are in Cornwall, UK, their small team spans the globe. They’re united by a love of writing and literature, our pride in their products, and the respect they have for their customers and the community that has grown up around their software.

And why “Literature & Latte”? Because their apps are designed to make writers feel right at home—like your favorite bookstore or coffee shop. So grab a latté. Put your fingers on the keyboard. And get writing.

Grow your manuscript your way

TAILOR-MADE for long writing projects, Scrivener banishes page fright by allowing you to compose your text in any order, in sections as large or small as you like. Got a great idea but don’t know where it fits? Write when inspiration strikes and find its place later. Grow your manuscript organically, idea by idea.

See the forest or  the trees

WHETHER you plan or plunge, Scrivener works your way: hammer out every last detail before typing a word, or carve out a draft and restructure later. Or mix your methods and do a bit of both. In Scrivener, everything you write is integrated into an easy-to-use project outline. So working with an overview of your manuscript is only ever a click away, and turning Chapter Four into Chapter One is as simple as drag and drop.

Research within reach

NEED to refer to research? In Scrivener, your background material is always at hand, and you can open it right next to your work. Write a description based on a photograph. Transcribe an interview. Take notes about a PDF file or web page. Or check for consistency by referencing an earlier chapter alongside the one in progress.

Getting it out there

ONCE you’re ready to share your work with the world, compile everything into a single document for printing, self-publishing, or exporting to popular formats such as Word, PDF, Final Draft or plain text. You can even share using different formatting, so that you can write in your favorite font and still satisfy those submission guidelines.

Our Affiliates

AFFILIATE MARKETING is a performance-based marketing strategy where businesses reward affiliates for driving traffic or sales to their website through the affiliate’s marketing efforts. Affiliates promote products or services using unique tracking links, and when a user makes a purchase or completes a desired action through that link, the affiliate earns a commission. This model benefits both the business, as it expands its reach and sales through various marketing channels, and affiliates, who can monetize their online platforms and audiences.

Our website leverages affiliate marketing to recommend products and services that we believe add value to our audience. When visitors make purchases through our affiliate links, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to them. This helps support our website’s operations and allows us to continue providing valuable content and resources. Rest assured, we only promote products or services that align with our values and that we genuinely recommend.

Angela Wallace

Angela Wallace

ANGELA WALLACE has been penning adventures ever since she was sucked through a magical portal as a child. What she saw and whom she met gave birth to exciting and complex fantasy worlds where defying the laws of physics was a bonus. She has since come back down to earth, only to discover this mortal realm has magic of its own.

Now she is also quite at home in the world of urban fantasy, though believes that love, faith, and hope are of a stronger magic than fire wielding and sorcery. She loves gun-toting good boys, and could have been a cop in another life except real blood makes her queasy. She’ll have to stick to solving supernatural mysteries. Language is her pleasure, whether it’s weaving words on a page or lassoing linguistics into translations as a sign language interpreter.

Angela is currently working on her next book. She is the winner of the 2013 Best Indie Book Award in Fantasy.
