Submission Guidelines

THANK YOU for your interest in becoming a Bearded Scribe Press author. We publish young adult (for ages 13 and up) and adult speculative fiction, with engaging story arcs by new and upcoming talent.

Potential authors, please send your work using the guidelines outlined below. To circumvent the potential of a high volume of submissions, we respond only to authors whose work we want to consider for publication. We’ll review your work as quickly as possible; however, it could take us 2-3 months to respond. We apologize that we will not be able to respond to emails or calls. We do not accept simultaneous submissions; if you have sent your query or manuscript to other publishing houses, please refrain from submitting.

Please include the following in your one-page query letter:

  • A book synopsis that includes your novel’s pitch.
  • Planned story arc (opening, middle, end).
  • Word Count
  • Speculative fiction sub-genre(s) classification of your query.
  • If you are represented by an agent or plan to be, please note this in your author bio.
  • Any other relevant information that pertains to your manuscript (including any endorsements, if applicable).
  • An author bio that describes your occupation, publishing history, and social media presence.
  • At least one (1) headshot.

ALL submissions must be edited and proofread. Ideally, your manuscript’s length is 60-100K words. Please attach the first three chapters of your manuscript, in MS Word format, to our submission form.
